Purpose. Legacy. Passion. Definite chief aim.

There have been many articles and books written on these subjects, ranging from short-term / long-term goal setting to how to find a fulfilling career to determining how you will live your life every single day. I find there to be so many different resources out there telling us that we need to find this, but very few that offer ways to do it. In a world with so many choices, how does one settle on or focus on any one personal purpose or passion?

When I thought of this topic, it was the idea of living every day with purpose that I wanted to aim at. The following is an exercise that made the light bulb turn on for me. It is from an article by Chelsea Greenwood from the November 2009 issue of Success Magazine :

In the beginning…..

In the beginning, there was inspiration. Now, of course I can’t speak to what happened in the very beginning of this world as we know it, but it seems to me that every action we see comes from some source of inspiration. Whether it be from nature, the animal kingdom, or fellow human beings, there always seems to be a moment where something clicks in your mind and moves you to do something about it.

That moment for me was threefold. One, I started reading “The Law of Success” by Napoleon Hill. To be honest, I’m only just starting the fourth chapter of it now, but as you can see the first three chapters have already had a big impact. The second moment was when a friend referred me to ‘The Positivity Blog’ (http://www.positivityblog.com/). Now, I don’t know the person who created this blog, and to be honest I have barely scratched the surface of what it offers, but it revealed to me an opportunity that I could create something similar and merge it with the ideas I already had bouncing around in my head from reading “The Law of Success”.
