You may or may not have noticed, but it’s been a while since I last posted to my blog. I could make many excuses for this, but instead I will recommend a blog that can help us all simplify our lives to really focus on what is important. Too often we get caught up in being “busy” and lose track of what is important – mainly relationships, exercise, and beloved hobbies. Sometimes this can’t be helped. There are just times of the year when the stars align to run you off your feet. However, when you get a moment to step back and take stock of where your energies are being spent, sometimes there are choices we have to make to let some of that busy work go. We especially need to let these tasks or errands go if they don’t align with our goals or values.
One of my favourite blogs to help remind me to live more simply is Zen Habits: Simple Productivity by Leo Babauta. “Zen Habits is about finding simplicity in the daily chaos of our lives. It’s about clearing the clutter so we can focus on what’s

‘The Alchemist’, by Paulo Coelho, was first published in 1988. It has sold more than 65 million copies in more than 150 countries, and has been translated into 67 different languages. It is one of the bestselling books of all time, and also my favourite book of all time. It is a journey of exploration and self-discovery, as we follow the main character Santiago, a young shepherd who lives in Spain, on a journey to fulfill his personal legend and find his treasure at the Pyramids in Egypt.
Alchemy was an early, unscientific form of chemistry that sought to change base metals into gold. The novel ‘The Alchemist’ shows us how to change our lives from what they may be today into the life we have always dreamed of. ‘The Alchemist’ is full of wisdom and gentle reminders that anything is possible when we believe in ourselves.
Below I break down 5 lessons that we all can learn from ‘The Alchemist’ (note: all quotes in this post are from ‘The Alchemist’ by Paulo Coelho):
1. The fear of failure is the greatest obstacle to happiness
“There is only one thing that makes a dream impossible to achieve: the fear of failure.”
What would you attempt

Have you ever thought about starting a blog? Or have you ever wanted to write about something that you are passionate about? This is the situation I found myself in last year – wanting to write and share with others ideas on how to live inspiring lives. Today you are looking at what resulted from that want, and today I will share with you what I have learned from my first 90 days of blogging. I hope to hear from you (via comments) any questions you may have on blogging so that you, too, can start writing your own wonderful blog.
Getting started
They say the best way to learn is by doing, so last November I launched my site www.livetoinspire.ca. Getting started was relatively easy. The first thing I did was grab a domain name from GoDaddy, which was really simple. You can search for the domain name you want right from their landing page, and if you find one you like all you have to do is follow the steps to purchase it. GoDaddy even offers hosting plans. At first I set myself up with one of their free hosting options, but after a little digging I found the
