When I was younger I used to write poems for my mom on Mother’s Day. They weren’t elaborate Walt Whitman-type poems at all, but it was my little way of showing that I cared. Unfortunately, this little tradition has fallen by the wayside as I’ve gotten older. I blame it on the uncreative mind of adulthood. In place of the poem, though, I still try to add a little extra to my Mother’s Day card by adding a quote or two from some of the great minds of the past or present.
