What does transparency and celebrity have to do with charity? Have you heard about the $600 billion challenge? Which Canadian Charity is rated the highest among its peers? Read on to find out.
Once upon a time I read a book called “Philanthrocapitalism” by Matthew Bishop and Michael Green. This book opened my eyes to the world of philanthropy and the wealthy people who have taken it upon themselves to make their mark through charity and social assistance on a global scale. “Philanthrocapitalism” includes interviews with such social-conscious celebrities as Bill Gates, Bill Clinton, George Soros, Richard Branson, Angelina Jolie, and Bono. It is with great excitement that I announce today the launch of my new website – www.run4play.com.
Run 4 Play is a fundraising website to help raise awareness and funds for Right To Play Canada. Over the next 6 months I will be participating in 6-10 trail running and road running events. Combine this with many hours of training and I will be running over 100 kilometers between now and October 1st, 2010. Along the way it will be my own personal mission to raise awareness for all the great work Right To Play does around the world, as well as keep an active journal of all my running adventures.
The site will include an easy link to my official Right To Play fundraising page, where people will be able to make safe and secure donations. It will also show a fundraiser tracker to show my progress towards my goal of raising at least $5,000 over the next six months. Breaking that down, that is only 250 donations of just $20. I have included a countdown from 250 so that we can all see how even small contributions can add up to big success. I will also be
